Sulphur Content of Liquid Fuels (England & Wales ) amended 2014

These Regulations amend the Sulphur Content of Liquid Fuels (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 in order to transpose the land-based provisions of the sulphur content of liquid fuels Directive (1999/32/EC) as amended by the marine fuels Directive (2012/33/EU). The amendments include a change in the definitions of "gas oil" and "heavy fuel oil" as well as other minor interpretation amendments. In addition the exceptions to the prohibition on the use of heavy fuel oil with a sulphur content exceeding 1 per cent by mass are amended, as is the reference method to be adopted for determining the sulphur content of fuels sampled.
