SWOT Analysis

Introduction

SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

A SWOT Analysis is used by organisations to assess these four aspects and manage the risks and opportunities that result.

Clause 4.1 Understanding the Context of the Organisation

Annex SL based ISO Management Systems include a requirement to identify the internal and external issues relevant to its purpose and that might impact the intended outcome of the system.

While the standards do not specify how this should be demonstrated, some organisations use a SWOT Analysis to identify and document these issues.
